Parrot, lizard, cat, dog, rabbit, and ferret. We’re often asked questions related to the use of pesticides and how they might affect any household pets. That’s not surprising because Arrow Exterminating is a family-run company and we take good care of all the families we serve. We know your pets are just as important to care for as the other members of your family. Which is why we want you to know that Arrow is committed to the protection of all members of your family, both two-legged and four-legged, so we want to tell you about issues related to pets and pesticides.

Arrow Exterminating Will Take Care of Your Pest Problem

Arrow has been serving families, businesses and other organizations on Long Island and in the 5 boroughs of New York City for more than 70 years. We’ve grown to be one of the largest pest control companies in the New York metropolitan area. We’re pest control experts and our staff receives extensive training and we’ll do whatever it takes to take care of your pest problem. But we’ll also do it wisely. Arrow Exterminating won’t use chemical pesticides unless we have to, and we won’t just spray indiscriminately.

What You Can Do to Protect Your Pets

Animals can have health issues if exposed to pesticides. They can breathe it in, absorb it through their skin, or even ingest it, according to the National Pesticide Information Center. The best way to avoid any problems is to keep your pet away from the pesticides.

Ways to reduce risk to your pets include:

  • Remove all pets from the area before before administering a pesticide.
  • Move food bowls, pet bedding, chew toys, and other toys away from the area.
  • Cover fish tanks to keep liquid and vapors from entering the tank.
  • Keep your pets away from areas treated with pesticides until surfaces dry completely and the area has been well ventilated.
  • If you purchase home pesticides, always read and follow the directions on the label.
  • When applying pesticide to your lawn, make sure to keep your pet indoors until the product has dried.

Arrow Exterminating Cares About Your Pets, Too

Arrow Exterminating will make certain that everyone is on the same page with the proper use of pesticide. You can help by letting us know if you have pets or children when you make an appointment with Arrow. Our technicians also ask about pets or children before they begin treatment on your property. We’ll also list safety precautions to take.

Arrow also uses eco-friendly Ever-Green services, which means we don’t just rely on chemicals alone. We look at other alternatives such as environmental sanitation efforts as well as making repairs such as covering entryways where pests can access your home or business. When we do have to use chemicals, we will use products that are designated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as “least toxic” and/or “low impact.” We’ll always try to find the eco-friendliest treatment available for your peace of mind.
